JUNK SCIENCE VERSION OF THE BIG BANG

Part Two: Mythic Theory of Everything

The Mythic Theory of Everything (MToE) is a fabricated theory created as a parody of modern physics. For some it might be seen as pseudo-science, although at this time there is no advocate presenting it as actually true. I freely agree that it is nonsense and it should not be taken seriously. In that capacity, it can never be anything more than just junk science. Ironically, it demands explicit adherence to the rules that it is built on, so it makes a great thought experiment. This essay addresses how the Big Bang Theory looks when viewed with the MToE.

Do not under any circumstance study the MToE as actually theory. Keep in mind that the proper use of the MToE is to educate from a devil’s advocate position. For example, if I disagree with an aspect of modern physics, e.g. photons, rather than rant and rave about the subject and disavow the volumes of scientific literature, I simply ask the reader to explain why the MToE is wrong. Admittedly, the MToE concept is ridiculous, but it still demands thoughtful rebuttal to dismiss.

The first concept of the MToE states that giant filament loops fill up our universe. The filaments themselves are super strong, immensely long, very thin, and completely friction-less. These loops exist in a jumble that defines our universe. Other jumbles of filaments might well constitute other universes that we can not detect.

The second concept of the MToE states that all energy is transmitted though the filaments that make up the universe. As such, all treatment of electromagnetic phenomena must be viewed as actual waves and vibrations in these filaments.

The third concept states that mass is a stored form of energy when a loop is created in a one of these filaments. The loop can roll along the filament and represents an elemental particle. The loop also rotates around the filament to impart electromagnetic properties.

The MToE has some really serious issues. The concept of filaments and energy transmission works fairly well, but when matter loops are created, they only appear to work in a one dimensional world even though they require three dimensions to exist. In a three dimension world the particles and their filament bases wrap around the filament bases of other particles. This makes orbital mechanics impossible, whether particle or planetary, as everything becomes a giant knot. Imagine three strings, with beads on each, trying to duplicate the orbit of the sun, the earth, and the moon. In the previous incarnation of the MToE, I just gave up and put everything into a four dimensional space. It sort of works, but there is no elegance to it. Here is my current thinking on the subject.

The first problem we find is that if the filaments are allowed to occupy random crossing positions. They will form tennis court type nets all though known space. If mass loops follow filaments that are perpendicular to these nets they can pass right through, but these nets effectively stifle any lateral motion of particles. This kills the fundamental kinetic principles of collisions and momentum. A particle taking a hit perpendicular to its axis of motion would tend to bounce between two filament nets and not fly out of the picture as we would expect from known physics.

We can fix this with a new concept that states all filaments must be oriented in one direction. Think of this as filaments forming rivers that traverse the universe. They may curve around somewhat, but they will all move in the same general direction. If you sketch the path of the solar system to some distant future date, you will see that we are making a fairly straight line to that destination even though we wobble about the galaxy in doing so. With this fix, particle lateral motion can slip in between filaments as there will not generally be any netting in the way. In this way, orbits of particles or bodies become allowed by wrapping around adjacent filaments.

The image of the bodies held together tightly can easily have a misleading interpretation. The connecting lines in the orbital illustration appear to suggest that the attractive force on the two bodies is tension in these filaments. This is not true. The attraction must be through conventional forces of electromagnetism and gravity. Without an attractive force the bodies would simply pass by each other without any interaction. The winding is just a consequence of the filament dynamics. Speculation of how these forces might manifest themselves in this filament world will not be discussed here, but is available in the original MToE.

As the orbiting bodies continue to wrap, they will cause an intertwining all along the filament. Over eons this spooling will cause the filaments to merge into one braid. However, being giant friction-less loops, at a distant point the intertwining will unravel on its own. Long before this happens, they will close the gap and pull each other together. If the force is sufficient, all the particles in the bodies will be crushed and revert to pure energy as vibrations in the filaments. This will most likely be in the heart of a black hole, and as such, well away from our observation.

The existence of this crushing force, by the way, has never been observed. Nor to my knowledge, has it ever been predicted by anyone. If it actually exists it would be the counter force to Dark Energy. In the MToE, Dark Energy is what keeps the universe from quickly crushing itself. As the universe expands under the influence of Dark Energy, the filaments are flung away from each other. This keeps enough slack on the filaments to prevent orbits from collapsing and allows bodies to acquire enough energy to climb to higher orbits or to completely eject themselves from orbital configurations. Thus electrons can play their little games and rockets can explore the cosmos. It also allows particles that are caught in magnetic fields to escape tangentially when the field is turned off.

For our discussion, we will assume that Dark Energy will eventually be overwhelmed by the Big Crush and the whole universe will become a braided Black Filament and all structure will be destroyed. And then somewhere on the other side of the universe, it starts all over again.

The filaments make a coil spring packed with every filament known. When released, this giant mouse trap will literally explode. Like an unimaginable roman candle, all of the filaments will peal off the Black Filament, erupting as energy waves. They will unwind in immense rotating bands. There is no structure of matter so the filaments will be free to expand unconstrained. Think of a jump rope.

This whipping motion of the filaments makes them taunt. This tension is necessary to allow light waves to propagate in harmonic vibrations. Left to their own, these giant rubber bands will contract into a giant inactive ball or hang limp in space. Given that all filaments originate from a single point in a similar manner, they should have basically the same properties. That allows the speed of light to be consistent throughout the universe, although it also suggests that this is not guaranteed.

Although microscopically thin, the filaments would likely have a trans-mass, i.e. the equivalence of conventional mass. The trans-momentum would carry them fast and far. In fact the filaments would move away from each other at hyper velocities exceeding the speed of light. This is a stage known as inflation. Unable to connect distant portions of the universe, bubble islands will form that isolate the universe into spheres that make up innumerable “visible” universes, with the actual universe being vastly larger.

Matter is recreated and begins to congeal into atoms, molecules, planets, and stars. Because the wrapped filaments have an imprint of the original tree structure, the new universe is not symmetrical, but has a built-in pattern that affects the initial density of matter. Orbital trees start to grow from the unraveling root. Because the root unwinds in one direction, it most likely influences the creation of matter and anti-matter due to the MToE properties of charge. Thus, a universe will only support one variation of particles. Everything that emerges from the root will have a tremendous velocity away from the root.

Now, imagine that all atoms, molecules, planets, stars, and black holes become attracted to each other in orbitals that build on each other to create tree branches and ultimately a single trunk.

The final result is now a pear shaped universe with one violent unwinding end and one crushing retracting end. This machine should have an indefinite lifetime while it waits for the next Big Crunch.

In that manner the MToE creates dark energy and reconstructs the Big Bang. This will of course repeat indefinitely. As other universes should exist in space, it would be expected that periodically collisions should occur with unpredictable outcomes to the respective universes.

Actually, it seems more logical that the universe might not collapse completely. The unwinding portion might just keep unwinding fueled by the winding collapse of the other end. Living in isolated bubbles of space, we might not realize that the Big Bang is a continuous firestorm. The light that would give this information will never get to us!

What we would eventually see though is the collapse of our bubbles into compressed space. The mythical snake eating its own tail. It begs the question, could we ride it out by traveling fast enough in the right direction? Perhaps… if we figure out how to travel faster than light!

As always, even though the MToE is junk science, it would please me if it were to inspire someone to actually go out and derive a real Theory of Everything. So what are you waiting for? Go do something good!
